2nd House in Astrology...
Whatever you can touch, see, feel and own falls into the second house along with anything that holds value in making a person who they are. The second house is where people claim their stake in this world and define themselves. As a personal house, people accumulate possessions on their own and for themselves, and they determine what is important to them in their relationship to their physical existence on earth. How people obtain possessions, what type of possessions they value, how well they hold on to possessions and how strictly they stick to their convictions are represented by planets and signs in the second house. Methods and attitudes about survival in this physical world are the most basic expressions of the second house. The way this defines a person is the more philosophical expression.
The second house represents our relationship with the material world and with what we value.

Planets in the 2nd House...
Sun in the 2nd House...With a second-house sun, a person's identity is developed and expressed by defining personal values and accumulating objects of value. There is a driving force in the chart holder to declare themselves and the world, what exact things they feel are worthy of their time and effort. In the second house, the sun creates an overwhelming need for the chart holder to live life their own way and for themselves. The mission of the sun here is to define and develop the wants of the chart holder. Second-house sun people take great pride in their values and their possessions and may be inclined to brag or talk about their belongings and stances on issues.

Moon in the 2nd House...
A constant worry about money and keeping the security it provides is common with a second-house moon. If money is plentiful, the chart holder may easily become complacent until the money dwindles, causing a cycle of comfort and worry. Financial security is necessary for a person with their moon in their second house. This person will be greatly distressed without it. It is truly their greatest need. Second-house moon people enjoy maintaining their possessions, even if they do complain about it. Regardless, they will think about their possessions often and are often concerned about their upkeep. Gardening is often an enjoyable pastime for second-house moon people and they love to indulge in anything comfortable, such as, fine foods, drink or music. If they ever waste money, it will be on a comfort item.
Mercury in the 2nd House...A second-house mercury is clever and crafty in its ability to survive and earn money. They value efficiency and ingenuity which puts them ahead of many others in dealing with this world of technology and rules. Mercury in the second house creates a flexible and changeable value system that is likely to change with world trends and attitudes. Likes and dislikes are not strong and a desire to try new things is always present. Surviving in the world is not seen as a burden, but as a puzzle with a myriad of possible solutions. Perseverance is a common problem with this position, as Mercury is flighty and needs constant change.
Venus in the 2nd House...Venus finds a perfect home in the second house. No planet appreciates the material world more than Venus, which has impeccable taste and appreciation of the finest things this world has to offer. Venus will also find a way to pay for it all and make it seem easy. The person with this placement loves to shop and then spend the next day telling everyone how wonderful their purchase is. They find true joy and pleasure in the material world without the pressure of worrying where their next dollar will be earned. Somehow it all just works out for Venus. As the planet of attraction, Venus doesn't want to offend, but it does have strong likes, dislikes and values. When Venus falls into the second house, it is more likely to make sure to honor these preferences and values than with any other house placement.
Mars in the 2nd House...Often impulsive and demanding, Mars in the second house knows what it wants and goes after it forcefully. Mars in the second house is willing to take risks to further financial success. This is a good placement for entrepreneurship, as those with a second-house Mars find risks and challenges exciting and invigorating. Mars in the second house values assertiveness and determination. These people are not shy about asking for what they want. This placement indicates a person who holds on tightly to their possessions. An explosive temper is often encountered if a possession is taken from them or if anything they value is lost or taken. The chart holder is likely to be outspoken about their values.

Jupiter in the 2nd House...With Jupiter in the second house, there is a faith that the world will somehow provide all that is needed in life. These people often gain wealth without having it as their focus. It may come to them through a spouse or a simple windfall. As they often accumulate wealth easily, they also share it generously taking joy in giving extravagant gifts. Freedom is highly valued with this placement, and although they often acquire possessions easily, they are careful not to allow these possessions to become traps. Preferring the freedom of only being loosely tied to the material world, they are not inclined to spend a great deal of time maintaining possessions. This position lends a flexible attitude towards values and the chart holder is likely to be open to changing them.
Saturn in the 2nd House...Money and wealth are often seen as tremendous burdens when Saturn is located in the second house. Although the chart holder is likely to spend enormous amounts of time working to achieve wealth, they are just as likely to resent it. The possibility of giving up to escape the overwhelming burden of making money exists with Saturn in second house. With other positive placements in the chart helping, a second-house Saturn can simply act as a stabilizing and strengthening factor in the ability to acquire and maintain wealth, rather than bringing its usual constrictive, trapped feeling. However, it is common for Saturn to take its usual course in the second house, and make the chart holder feel that survival in the material world is overly crucial and tremendously difficult. Over time however, Saturn here will generally pay off and the hard work and long-term effort put into gaining wealth will result in a financially secure life. The chart holder is likely to be rigid in their value system.
Uranus in the 2nd House...With Uranus in the second house, there is a desire to detach from the material world because it may seem cumbersome. Uranus often sees the material world as a responsibility which traps a person into bills and the maintenance of homes, cars, etc. A need for freedom is fundamental to Uranus and the second house can feel like a restrictive place for this planet. Uranus here may lead a chart holder to find creative and unique ways of earning money. There may also be sudden changes in financial status.
Neptune in the 2nd House...Neptune in the second house may want to pretend that we do not live in a material world. The responsibility of making money and doing the work to maintain material objects are things Neptune wants to ignore. In the best scenario the chart holder with Neptune in their second house is able to make a living doing something artistic, spiritual, or at least people and feeling related. If the chart holder can focus on the joy of a job rather than the responsibility of having to earn a living, Neptune is much happier.
Pluto in the 2nd House...Pluto in the second house can play out in a few ways. There may be large gains and losses of money and possessions with this placement, or Pluto may simply be its usual controlling self and create an atmosphere of intense control over finances that never relents and looses ground. Either way, there are likely to be intense feelings surrounding earning money and gaining possessions. Often there is drama over ownership issues and any losses incurred by the chart holder. With a second-house Pluto, values are held passionately. The chart holder's ideas about what makes their life valuable and enjoyable are not negotiable. Valued objects and any activities that bring pleasure are guarded vigilantly, and any attempt to make a second-house Pluto person compromise them is met with clear and direct force.
