The Difference Between Pisces Sun & Moon...
The sun sign is more apparent to others, while the moon sign is felt more on the inside. This makes a Pisces sun a more shallow, outward representation of the sign than the Pisces moon, which has more depth and is felt more on the inside.
Whether in the position of sun or moon, the sign of Pisces is not completely at ease. In the sun position, Pisces struggles against its nature as the most feminine sign in a never-ending battle to accommodate the driving force of the very masculine sun. In the moon position, because the moon and Pisces are both very feminine, Pisces struggles against falling into a well of ultra-feminine energy and constantly fights to keep its head out of the deep waters of powerful emotion. When comparing the Pisces sun to the Pisces moon, it is helpful to keep these issues in mind.
So, even though it is an odd fit, the sign of Pisces in the sun position creates a sort of balance. It isn't the most comfortable balance, but for the most part, it works well. It generally presents itself as a complex, multifaceted and interesting personality. However, there is also a difficulty and awkwardness to this feminine/masculine combination that creates a back-and-forth cycle that shows itself under stress. It consists of submission followed by compensatory, angry frustration. The Pisces sun nature is to absorb |
and slowly process and consider, but when they just can't absorb any more negativity, they typically lash out. It's emotionally based and cuts deep. Yet, they often talk in circles and contradict themselves because it's difficult to properly accommodate the drive of their sun through their sign of Pisces.
Yet, despite this struggle, the typical Pisces sun-sign personality appears fluid and comfortable in their own skin. They seem to easily absorb everything without resistance or fear. They are relaxed and ready to accept whatever comes their way. When they are unstressed and are in a relaxed atmosphere, they shine. They are approachable, subtly-confident, unoffensive and smooth in their presentation. When working well, the balance of the most feminine sign of Pisces with the masculine sun, can be an attractive combination. It creates a dichotomy that comes across to others as intriguing. However, when stressed, the Pisces sun-sign person can become, well, a mess! The can slip into back-and-forth balance issues that create "Jekyll and Hyde" scenarios in which they go from submissive to over-the-top angry. Or, they can become seemingly delusional, acting like the stress doesn't exist at all. Either way, their Pisces nature isn't comfortable with the sun's need to push forward and be powerful.

The Pisces moon doesn't wear their sign in their personality like the Pisces sun. So, their nature is less obvious than in the Pisces sun, but it's deeper and more powerful. It is noticeable to others as either a receptive, soft and even marshmallow-like way, or as as neurotic and scattered demeanor. It depends on how much they are going with or fighting against the mutable femininity of Pisces. A person who accepts their Pisces moon and flows with the depth of its emotion, is the soft person. Whereas, the person who fights against it is neurotic and scattered. Those who fight against it normally do so because of other people in their lives making them feel like their emotion is unacceptable or because of a conflicting sun sign like Aries or Aquarius that makes them believe they should always be strong and unemotional. Pisces moon-sign people can be the most compassionate, easy-going, empathetic people in the world when they are comfortable with the depth of emotion they experience. In contrast, Pisces sun-sign people do not feel the same depth of emotion because Pisces sun-sign's emotionality is a personality feature not their true, inner nature.
The Pisces moon is completely feminine. It has no masculine sun to balance its femininity like the sun in Pisces. This relieves internal stress, but it has its own issues. It only seeks comfort and security. It is naturally receptive and submissive. So, it seeks solace and comfort in receiving feelings and absorbing surroundings. It seeks constant retreat and pleasure. All of this sounds harmless, which it is, but if the Pisces moon person isn't at peace with it or is constantly under pressure from people who criticize their emotional nature or have no patience with their need to retreat and constantly deal with feelings, it can be hard to climb out of when the world requires it. What's more, this extreme receptivity creates a fragile and sensitive nature that is easily hurt and has very little recourse other than sinking further into a self-perpetuating abyss of powerful emotion. For a Pisces moon, there is no masculine force to pull one's self up and out of this pit. Most often, Pisces moon people deal with it by spending a great deal of time alone, often sleeping or closed up in the dark, trying to sort through their feelings. At worst, they resort to food, alcohol or drugs to ease the pain and to find strength. At best, they know how to rely on loved ones and just give themselves time to let the feelings pass. |

Pisces moon-sign people are the truly sensitive people of the zodiac. They are much more sensitive than Pisces sun-sign people. Having the most feminine planet in the most feminine sign trumps any other planet/sign combination when it comes to sensitivity. If unstressed, the doubly feminine Pisces moon can float happily along living from moment to moment. Pisces' unformed and porous nature can experience each moment, absorb it, and move on to the next. But when stressed, Pisces moons are like people in rowboats without oars. They don't know what to do, so they do nothing. They float and wait. Or, in extreme cases, when stressed enough, they react in a compensatory way just like the Pisces sun and become overly angry, completely blocking out the compassion they usually exhibit. When they are hurt enough, and they believe the world has no compassion for them, a switch can turn within
|
them and they retaliate like a trapped animal who believes there is no other recourse. It's like falling into a delusion and losing touch with reality. They create their own reality where they are stronger and can satisfy their needs and recoup security. This is an extreme, last resort, used under great stress, when they simply cannot stand the pain of floating helplessly any longer.
Pisces is a complex sign. Represented by the two fish swimming in opposite directions, it represents an inherent struggle between being more comfortable in the intangible world of the unconscious and emotion yet being compelled to deal with the reality of the real, physical world. The Pisces sun has the advantage of the masculine nature of the sun providing a nudge and push into the reality of the physical world. However, the Pisces moon has the gift of being able to truly experience a greater depth of emotion and truer insight into the mysterious and intriguing world beyond our usual physical reality. |
